In-Home Euthanasia

Making the decision to say goodbye to your pet may be one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. Peaceful Pets is committed to making that process as easy as possible for you and your family. We are passionate, caring, non-judgmental, and empathetic. We understand the disease processes and the pain and suffering that unfortunately follow and we will endeavour to relieve your pet and your family of that stress. We want you and your family to be able to spend your pets’ final moments wherever you will be most comfortable, whether it is at home, in the garden, or at the beach, the final plans are based around your family’s specific needs and wants.

Home euthanasia services include:

  • At home consultation Sedation to ensure a painless and stress free procedure
  • Humane euthanasia
  • Memorial keepsakes of your choosing
  • Cremation and return of ashes
  • Body disposal if no ashes desired

What to expect:

After a phone or at home consultation, if the decision is made to euthanize, the vet will discuss all of your options. It is advised to have a family discussion to decide when and where the procedure will take place as well as what you would like to do with your pets remains. We understand this can be a tough decision, so please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance. The decision to include children in the process is a personal one but the vet will be more then happy to answer all of their questions and explain the procedure in as much or as little detail as desired.

Once you have decided on a quiet comfortable place, the first step will be a small injection under the skin for sedation. This will ease any anxiety and allow the pet to sleep peacefully so that they do not feel the second injection. You are welcome to hold or cuddle your pet as you desire while they quietly drift to sleep. Once you and your pet are ready, a final injection will be given, usually into the vein. The drug acts very quickly and is painless. The vet will confirm that your pet has passed away and you may take as much time as you need to say your final goodbyes. If it is desired, the vet will transport your pet for cremation services.

“It is always said that however many wonderful and happy years a dog lives, you know that one day, the day he dies, your dog will break your heart.”

~James Herriot
